Sorting Hat Song Contest
FIRST PLACE Contestant #5 – Jordan _Games
You expect a song do ya,
A jolly good ole tale,
Well I got one to sing aloud,
About a man so very pale.
His name? Well, it can't be said,
by any but the bravest of heart
for a weaker man will quake and wail
by memories making them fall apart.
Teaching lessons like might is right
And purebloods hold the true power
Even though he was a hypocrite
With followers that needed a shower.
He did hold true to his heritage
And taught those that followed him
How terrible those Slytherins could turn
When sly and cunning is made so grim.
However, they are nothing to fear
When used right they can bring cheer
One boy ended this plight
Harry Potter is the lad
Bringing light into the fight
Drawing strength from things so sad.
He showed the power of Gryffindor
Brave was he, to face his fear
Strong to last so long
And bold holding up to that jeer
However Harry couldn't have won
Without the wit of Ravenclaw
or those sturdy Hufflepuff
We may have fallen into evil's maw.
There is no shame in any house
Nor in being a regular muggle
Everyone plays their part
In each and every struggle.

SECOND PLACE Contestant #1- Cadders
The Sorting Hat’s song of 1997, Harry’s 7th year During Lord Voldemort’s second reign of terror, Severus Snape is headmaster.
Once I was a fledgling hat,
Tall and pointed without a tear,
On brave Gryffindor’s head I sat
And witnessed magic beyond compare.
But the greatest wand-work I ever saw,
Came with the founding of these halls,
Those four great minds of years ago,
Used the magic I’ll now recall:
Wise Ravenclaw with wand of willow,
For charms she was renowned,
She hid and disguised this patch of land,
To ensure we would never be found.
Then brave Gryffindor with wand of holly,
Transfigured out of the mountain,
The great stone castle in which we sit,
Where generations could all be taught in.
Now Helga Hufflepuff with wand of spruce,
Added features for our leisure,
She conjured furniture and stocked the kitchens,
For every student's pleasure.
Meanwhile ambitious Slytherin,
Kept his work closely guarded,
He enchanted rooms and carved out chambers,
Just before our founders parted.
So remember now in these challenging times,
That one day long ago,
Our founders four all worked together,
To ensure they reached they’re goal.
And now although each of you may possess,
Skills that set you all apart,
You must stay united while you’re divided,
To give Hogwarts back its heart.

Sorting Hat Song
Oh one might not label me pretty
For I'm no Yule Ball hat, you see.
A dull brown face, a patched left side,
A rip on my brim, a stain on me thigh
Nothing attractive, I must confide.
But never judge what you may find,
At first glance, at least,
For I've got more brains and wit
Than any other hat you will meet!
I live to sort, to sing this yearly song,
I'm no fool! I’ll tell you where you belong!
Should you be in Gryffindor?
Where lie those brave at heart?
Should you be in Ravenclaw?
Where dwell the bright and smart?
Should you be in Hufflepuff?
Where belong the just and fair?
Or should you be in Slytherin?
Where guile and ambition are pair?
Young and frightened lads, never fret! -
Do come forward!
For there is nothing I haven't seen,
Nothing I haven't heard!
So waste not a moment now!
Let me adorn your brow,
And tell you of who you're worthy.
Enough is said -
To the sorting ceremony.
- APPLAUSE -

FOURTH PLACE Contestant #3 – Rowling_Games
Sorting Hat Song
I may be old and frayed
but don't let that betray you
stitched and bewitched
over a thousand years ago
The four greatest witches and wizards of the time
United by one single desire
The wish to inspire
and help young minds.
So a place of education
was the creation.
The founders four
Helga Hufflepuff of valley broad
Rowena Ravenclaw from the glen
Godric Gryffindor of wild moor
Salazar Slytherin from the fen.
From these noble names
four houses were born.
Gryffindor which houses the bold and brave,
Ravenclaw selected those filled with cleverness,
Hufflepuff welcomed the loyal who loved to toil
Slytherin choose only those who are pure.
Their differences are what defined them
Together they stood, never to be divided
but what brought them together
soon sought to tear them apart.
Battles were fought
over Hogwarts
soon the time had come
for one to depart
So four became three
Which house will it be?
Put me on and I will see.

FIFTH PLACE Contestant #4 – Ben_Games
First years, the moment has come;
It’s time for me to decide,
Which house you will fare best in,
And this, you may be surprised.
Before the time of present,
When our ancestors walked the halls,
The founders discerned a problem with those offspring yet to come,
“When our time has come and we leave this place, who will decide the houses our students will be placed?”
Hufflepuff spoke out, “I will find someone to take our place, and they will burden their fate”
Ravenclaw spoke out “I will create a test, and their brains will be those to decide”
Slytherin spoke out “I will teach the lot to be one house, and equals all shall become”
It was Gryffindor who was the best, he took of his hat and cast a spell,
And for once the quaralls of the four, farewell.
“The sorting hat will put the students in their rightful place”
The famous founders, years ago,
Bequeathed me with this task,
A thousand years I’ve carried out their will,
And experienced I have become,
I know what you’ll make of your magical careers,
You cannot hide your thoughts from me,
I’ll put you all where you belong,
In this sorting ceremony.
